In October of 2020 I was featured in an article for Inverness Live Magazine. Though I'd share here as it's a great overview of my photography business.
Kind of like a giant "ABOUT" page.
“Our field of vision is flooded by thousands of images every day. If we are lucky, we will view some of them, if only for a moment. Others we will miss entirely. Only an incredibly special few are preserved for a lifetime, for the next generation, in print, in albums and in frames.” Maureen Miller
Photography is a big deal!
Gathering up your family, or even just one of your littles, for a portrait session can be a bit stressful. Getting yourself camera-ready is it's own project. There are SO many things to consider. What if it didn't have to be so stressful? My clients look to me not only for my photography expertise and creativity, but also because they trust that I’ll take care to keep the stress level to a minimum and deliver a great experience for everyone in the family. I can get a plan in place for you, your family, your babies - tweens and teens - even your pets, to shine like their very best selves in beautiful photographs that will put any other art on your walls to shame.
After graduating from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in photography, I was stumped on what to do next. Wasn’t National Geographic going to call me? Was Vogue taking applications? (LOL!) I had a little experience in portraiture and was able to get a photography position with a national company, and thus began my career. I started Maureen T Miller photography in the late 90s after working for a retail photography company and then a high-end boutique photo studio.
Maureen T. Miller Photography is a full-service studio. I specialize in custom portraiture, framed wall art and professional headshots. Offering in studio portraits, black and white photography, and location sessions, for children, families, high school seniors, professional headshots, and personal branding means there is something for everyone’s style and need.
All sessions begin with a portrait consultation so that we can be sure you are getting the most of your photography experience. Not only do we plan for clothing and location for your session, we talk about what will happen after the images are created. Why are we doing a portrait session now? Where and how will these images be displayed? These are not always things that people consider; but why not? If you are taking the time to get haircuts, new outfits, and wrangle everyone together, let’s show off that beautiful family! My clients can select from a wide range of curated professional print options, canvases, and albums to create their own family gallery.
I have been working and living in the community many years. My husband John and I have been married for 26 years. We are both graduates of Fremd High School – Go Vikings! John is currently the Director of Coaching for Palatine Celtic Travel Soccer. A job which he absolutely loves! John and I also own J&M Imaging, a volume photography business that photographs youth sports, preschools and church directories. For fun we love the outdoors, travel, great food, and good company.
Being able to make a career doing something I love is a dream come true. This past year I have met and photographed many wonderful families for Inverness Life Magazine. It is an honor to be able to work with all my clients creating something that is truly priceless. Images created today only become more valuable as time goes by. Knowing that a parent’s heart fills with joy walking by a gallery of portraits on the wall or paging through an album - is what it’s all about. Portraiture is as precious and timeless as any family heirloom.
